Road for emergency use only
New temporary gravel access road will help speed up response time for emergency crews

A new temporary gravel road connecting Great Bear Boulevard and Metis Trail West on Lethbridge’s west side is ready to be used, but only by emergency personnel.
Fire & Emergency Services deputy chief Wes Borland says it’s important it’s not used by the public.
“The motive (for the road) was to build as a redundancy so we have more than one way in and one way out from Station 5,” Borland explains.
“(This will help) improve response times for different areas to the west. Prior to this road, we would have to turn east and then find an alternative route.
