Temporary eight-hour closure of ER at Fort Macleod Health Centre

Alberta Health Services is reporting that the Fort Macleod Health Centre’s Emergency Department will be temporarily closed from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, due to a shortage in personnel.

It said nursing staff would remain on-site to provide care for existing patients in the facility, however, emergency care would be transferred to other area hospitals.

“AHS continues to work to find clinical personnel coverage for this time period, and if coverage is found, this service advisory will be cancelled,” said a statement released late Saturday morning.

“During this time, patients are (still) asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.”
