High-risk encampments in Lethbridge’s downtown core appear to be on the decline

While the situation isn’t something that will change overnight, the City of Lethbridge appears to have made some strides in addressing unhoused encampments. 

In a quarterly update Tuesday, the Community Social Development department says there’s been a lowering in the number of high-risk encampments downtown. 

Resident Barry Ewing, who admits he’s been critical in the past, has noticed the change as well.

“It’s with gratitude and appreciation that I can bring good news of what I’ve noticed in my neighbourhood this year,” said Ewing, as he addressed the Mayor and Council.
