Lethbridge athlete qualifies for upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

A member of Lethbridge’s judo community is off to the Commonwealth Summer Games in Scotland.

Evelyn Beaton is one of five women who will represent Canada at the international competition.

“It’s based on points, so it’s not a specific event that you place at. It’s kind of how you do over the past two years or the last year leading up to the event and the points accumulated during the tournament season on the IJF Tour.” 

Beaton admits she wasn’t necessarily trying to qualify for the Commonwealth Games – it just happened.
