New fire restrictions, bans put in place with continued heatwave, no forecasted rain

With no rain in the immediate forecast, and daytime temperatures remaining in the 30s, the list of fire restrictions and bans continues to grow. 

The latest, this morning from the MD of Taber, is for a Fire Restriction and although only a restriction, the district saying it could be elevated, at any point, if conditions don’t improve, to an all-out fire ban. 

In Cypress County, fire bans are now in effect for Bullshead Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area, Cypress Hills Provincial Park, and Michelle Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area.

Park Lake Provincial Park northwest of Lethbridge had already had instituted its own Fire Ban earlier this month.
