Vauxhall’s Adam Macko is on the move, once again, and it came on Major League Baseball’s Trade Deadline Day.

The 25-year-old Toronto Blue Jays pitcher is now a Texas Ranger after being dealt by the club Monday for infielder Josh Smith and minor league pitcher Josh Stefan.

Macko, who made his major league debut May 18th against the New York Yankees, was most recently with the Jays’ AAA-affiliate Buffalo Bisons.

During his time with the Jays, the left-hander posted a 4.91 ERA, with 10 walks and 23 strikeouts over the course of 22 appearances but had struggled in his last 14 games, after failing to give up a single run in his first eight.

In a posting on the Texas Rangers website Monday, it said Macko, who was drafted by the Seattle Mariners before being traded to Toronto, will report to the team’s AAA farm team, the Round Rock Express.

Ironically, the Express already have an Alberta connection, besides the Vauxhall Baseball Academy grad – they’re the former Pacific Coast League Edmonton Trappers, who current part-owner, and lengendary pitcher Nolan Ryan, was involved with in re-locating the team to Texas.

Another former Blue Jay hurler, ‘Rocket’ Roger Clemens, also did rehab with the Express when they were the AA-affiliate of the Houston Astros.

Round Rock currently has the second-best record in the PCL’s second-half season schedule, including winning nine of its last 10.
