The Canadian Federation of Independent Business is calling the creation of an online portal to submit tariff concerns, a positive first step.
However, the CFIB is also urging premier Danielle Smith to go further and lower the province’s small business tax rate, as well.
In a statement Wednesday, the federation said lowering the tax and increasing the small business income threshold would provide immediate relief.
The organization’s Alberta Senior Policy Analyst added the two measures could save a business earning $163,000 up to $12,000 annually.
