Mountie killer in Saskatchewan tells court forfeiting truck to Crown unreasonable

SASKATOON — A man in prison for killing two Mounties in Saskatchewan 20 years ago told court today his blue pickup truck that prosecutors want surrendered still holds value for its parts.

Curtis Dagenais also told court the Crown’s request to have the 1986 GMC 1500 forfeited is unreasonable, arguing it’s his property.

The 61-year-old appeared at a hearing over the fate of the truck, which Dagenais was in when he shot two RCMP officers to death on a country road near Mildred, northwest of Saskatoon, in July 2006.

In 2009, a jury convicted Dagenais of first-degree murder for shooting constables Robin Cameron and Marc Bourdages.
