New provincial 10-year ‘snapshot’ offers up some future labour shortages, surpluses
Jobs, Economy, Trade, and Immigration (JETI) Alberta has provided a ten-year snapshot of the provincial labour market, including what jobs will be in short supply.
In its 2025-2035 study, made public Thursday, it revealed labour shortages are expected in health, business, finance, and administration.
It’s forecasting that software engineers and designers, followed by nurse aides, orderlies, and practical nurses, will lead the way in positions needing to be filled.
On the flip side of the coin, it believes occupations like service technicians, welders, and plumbers will have actually have a boom.
