Lethbridge cenotaph to include recognition of Canada’s mission in Afghanistan conflict
A new inscription recognizing Canada’s mission in Afghanistan will be engraved onto the cenotaph in Lethbridge this Fall.
Several groups, led by the Royal Canadian Legion and the community’s Remembrance Day committee, made the request to City Council yesterday.
“In order to get the process started, including the design and the inscription, we have already arrangements through our Poppy Fund of the Royal Canadian Legion,” said Matthew McEwen, the spokesperson for the presentation to Council’s Community Issues Committee.
“We’d like to have the engraving done as soon as possible, as it is weather dependent. Sunset Memorial has advised us they cannot complete the work if it’s too cold.”
