Formal approval expected today for added cenotaph inscription recognizing Afghanistan veterans

Lethbridge City Council is expected to formally pass a request to have the city’s cenotaph add a new inscription recognizing veterans of the Afghan War. 

At last week’s Community Issues Committee, Council unanimously agreed to modify the existing monument to read “Afghanistan 2001-2014.” 

Today’s regular Council meeting, which begins at 12:30, is simply a formality to give it the necessary approval to get the process underway. 

The cost of the engraving will be covered by the Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch 4.
