MLA LaGrange travelling to Europe to learn about innovative health care

Oct 1, 2026 | 3:54 PM

Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services, Adriana LaGrange, who is also the MLA for Red Deer-North, will travel to Europe this week to learn more about innovative health care models and how they can improve access and outcomes for Albertans.

LaGrange will be gone from Oct. 2-10 in Sweden and Denmark.

In a release, it’s noted she will visit world-class medical facilities, including Karolinska University Hospital and Zealand University Hospital.

“Albertans deserve a modern, responsive health care system that puts patients first,” says LaGrange.

“By examining how world-class systems in Sweden and Denmark successfully manage wait times and expanded access, we can adopt proven innovations to build a stronger, more sustainable health system here at home.”

Sweden and Denmark are known for their publicly funded systems, and they spend comparable amounts per person to Canada, the province adds.

Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.
