‘We didn’t give up a touchdown’: Oilers find defensive footing in win over Kraken
EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers have proven they can get it done without running and gunning.
Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist to give him nine points through three games as the Oilers won their second game in a row, defeating the Seattle Kraken 3-1 on Saturday.
Owen Michaels and Leon Draisaitl also scored for the Oilers (2-0-1), who opened with a pair of high-scoring affairs against the Vancouver Canucks, losing the first 6-5 in OT before going up 8-2 in the rematch only to end up having to squeeze by with a 9-7 victory.
“We defended well for the most part and were able to stick with it. Eventually you’ll find a bounce or a look at some point,” said Draisaitl, who scored his third of the season to put his team up 2-1 with just 2:27 left in the third.
