The Lethbridge Police Service confirms that lockdowns at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and nearby schools early Thursday afternoon have now been lifted.

Police were called out just after Noon of a reported threat in the 1700-block of 5th Avenue.

As a precaution, LCI, Victoria Park, and other schools in the area initiated a lockdown.

In a social media post, the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division confirmed that some of its facilities were affected including Catholic Central High School East, St. Francis Junior High School, Trinity Learning Centre, Ecole St. Mary, and CARE.

In a statement, the Division said it takes every precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff, and in this case, the lockdown/hold and secures were initiated out of an abundance of caution.

Earlier this week, a 16-year-old boy was charged in a separate incident, in which a replica hand gun water pistol was seized.

Police haven’t provided any details relating to the latest incident, but say the public may use the area, once again.
