Environment & Climate Change Canada is forecasting a change in our weather over the next 48 hours with some areas possibly seeing snow.

A cold front moving down from northeast BC along the Foothills will bring with it, colder temperatures and mixed precipitation.

Rain and snow, or just snow, is in the forecast for the Crowsnest Pass and Pincher Creek, beginning Saturday with potential accumulations.

South central sections could also see the first signs of Winter, although any snow is not expected to stick.

On Friday afternoon, the weather agency issued a Yellow Snowfall Warning for up to 20 centimetres of snow for higher elevations in the southwest , like the Crowsnest Pass, and about half for lower-lying areas, like Pincher Creek.

“Snowfall is expected to begin Saturday morning and continue through Sunday night. Scattered showers will become snow on Saturday morning as temperatures drop.,” said the statement.

“Snowfall will ease on Sunday night and end by Monday morning,” it added.

Although temperatures will bottom out near the freezing mark during the day on the weekend, the mercury is predicted to rise into the teens by the middle of next week.
