Football Alberta Weekly Top-10 Rankings

Oct 19, 2026 | 9:37 AM

Here are the Weekly Top-10 Rankings for all five levels of high school football in Alberta for the 2026 season.

These rankings will come out every Sunday (except for Labour Day kickoff) from now up until November 9.

At that time, those will be the last rankings, and teams will take this rank into provincials.

The 12-a-side teams are slotted into their levels based on their estimated school size by School Sport Alberta, while the 9- and 6-a-side teams are one level only. Some re-sorting of 12-a-side levels will take place after the final official population numbers are recorded at the end of September.

Note: games vs. US opponents, scrimmages, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall record of the schools.

UPCOMING GAME(S) OF THE WEEK:

4A #4 Catholic Central Cougars vs. #3 Cardston Cougars 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 23, Walker Field (Cardston)

The Battle of the Cougars will take place at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Walker Field is a tough place to play. It always has been since the days when the namesake of this field, Larry Walker, was coaching the Cougars to five Tier II Provincial Championships in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. This year’s version of the Cardston Cougars is heading in that same direction but also are this year’s version of the Catholic Central Cougars. Both are undefeated with the exception of two losses apiece to 5A powerhouses L.C.I. and Raymond. This game won’t determine who goes to Provincials at 4A out of Zone 1, but it will certainly give us some indication of who has the inside track.
