CALGARY — Joel Farabee had a goal and two assists as the surging Calgary Flames made it three straight wins with a 4-1 decision over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.

Zayne Parekh, Ryan Strome and Matvei Gridin, who also had an assist, rounded out the scoring for Calgary (4-6-0). Matt Coronato chipped in with a pair of assists.

Farabee, on a four-game points streak (2-5-7), leads the club with nine points in 10 games.

Andrew Copp had the lone goal for Detroit (4-4-3), which lost in regulation for the first time in seven games.

Making his third straight start, Devin Cooley continued his hot play with 28 saves to improve to 3-2. He’s stopped 100 of 104 shots over his three-game win streak.

John Gibson, who stopped 21 shots, took the loss. He falls to 3-4-1.

After Farabee opened the scoring at 17:50 of the first period, the visitors tied it 2:22 into the second when Copp poked a bouncing puck through Cooley’s pads.

Calgary regained the lead on Parekh’s power play at 8:38 and before the second period was over, the Flames opened a three-goal cushion getting goals less than 90 seconds apart from Strome and Gridin.

TAKEAWAYS

Red Wings: Detroit’s struggles on the penalty kill continued. In failing to kill off either of their two penalties, they’ve surrendered six power-play goals on 15 chances in their last four games. It’s Detroit’s first loss to the Flames since March 12, 2022. They had won eight in a row including four straight at the Saddledome.

Flames: The last time Dustin Wolf went three games without a start was Nov. 15-21, 2024, when Dan Vladar was his goaltending partner. Coronato (1-4-5) and Morgan Frost (1-4-5), who had an assist, also extend their point streaks to four games.

KEY MOMENT

The game had been penalty free when eight minutes into the second period Alex DeBrincat was whistled for hooking Martin Pospisil. It took just 21 seconds for Calgary to break the 1-1 tie with Parekh beating Gibson on a wrist shot from the blue line.

KEY STAT

Calgary went 2-for-2 on the power play to improve to 6-for-12 over the past four games. The Flames are at 32 per cent on the season, which ranks them third behind Utah (38.5) and Edmonton (35.1). The Flames were 31st with the man advantage last season.
