New inscription on city’s cenotaph to be formally recognized in Nov. 4 ceremony

The Royal Canadian Legion’s General Stewart Branch in Lethbridge is holding an inscription ceremony at the city’s cenotaph next week.

A new engraving on the back side of the cenotaph ‘Afghanistan 2001 – 2014’ recognizes Canadian soldiers that fought in the war overseas.

The RCL calls the cenotaph a lasting place of remembrance for the community, but now honours those who took part in the Afghan conflict.

The event also coincides with Poppy Flag Day which signifies the annual start of the national poppy campaign by the Royal Canadian Legion, and will see a dedicated flag raised outside of City Hall.
