Electoral Boundaries

Controversial bill tabled in Alberta’s legislature Monday afternoon

Nov 2, 2026 | 2:58 PM

Opposition over plans by the Alberta government to make changes to the electoral boundary map ahead of next year’s provincial election continue to grow.

Speculation is the legislation, if approved, would see the current Lethbridge East and West urban ridings morphed into four urban/rural electoral divisions.

Lethbridge East MLA Nathan Neudorf has gone on record as supporting the plan, advocating for more Lethbridge-based representation.

However, Lethbridge West MLA Rob Miyashiro is staunchly opposed to the move, based on geography and demographics.
