EMS in Lethbridge remains in place although funding structure still to be determined
The City of Lethbridge is confirming it’s working on a procurement bid with Emergency Health Services Alberta – in essence, a funding structure for paramedic care.
“Even though our contract ended on Sept. 30, we (the City) still remain the EMS provider,” mayor Blaine Hyggen, during a news conference Monday morning.
“What has changed is that Emergency Health Services Alberta has now issued a request for an expression of interest and qualifications for Ground Emergency Health Services.”
Since late May, the City has lobbied to keep the current integrated EMS model, despite the pushback it’s received.
