Head of Veterans’ Association thrilled with headstone cleaning participation

Reservists with the 20th Independent Field Battery were out on Friday morning cleaning the headstones of veterans laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery.

Melinda Urquhart is the operations coordinator for the Veterans Association in Lethbridge, the group behind the annual event.

She believes it’s important to maintain a connection between the present and past.

“Doing the headstone cleaning here at the cemetery is a vital part of that. So, we reached out to 20th field and they’ve replied and they’ve come out in force today which is amazing. I think it’s fantastic. I know a lot of us veterans are excited about it and it’s really nice to see the enthusiam that’s there.”
