LPS investigating group assault on individual outside city nightclub

Police in Lethbridge are investigating a reported assault Saturday night outside a downtown nightclub.

LPS says a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being attacked by as many as six people.

The incident took place in the 1200-block of 1st Avenue South and apparently was over a cell phone before it escalated into a physical altercation.

Police say the suspects in the attack were of South Asian descent and fled the scene on foot before authorities could arrive.
