SMRID hands out 15 agriculture-based scholarships to area high school students

The St. Mary River Irrigation District announced last week it’s awarded $30,000 through three separate memorial scholarships.

15 students throughout the region were given $2,000 each towards their schooling, ranging from agronomy to crop technology and sustainable agriculture.

Board chair Cory Nelson says the District is proud to support the region’s agriculture leaders of the future in their post-secondary education.

General Manager David Westwod referred to the recipients as “the people who will be growing, building, innovating and leading agriculture in southern Alberta for years to come.”
