Lethbridge MLA stands up in Legislature to oppose new electoral boundaries bill

The MLA for Lethbridge West has taken aim at proposed legislation that would see dramatic changes to his and the city’s other provincial riding. 

Rob Miyashiro, standing up in the Legislature on Monday, is against any proposal that would see the Bridge City divided up into four electoral divisions.

“Last week, the member for Lethbridge East suggested splitting our city into four ridings was a good idea. If your goal is fair representation, it’s a terrible idea. This sham report was written behind closed doors with no public hearings, no record of who was consulted and without an transparency.”

The opposition NDP have said they’ll pursue legal action if the UCP-proposed electoral boundary lines are drawn ahead of next year’s provincial vote.
