Pincher Creek RCMP note a spike in vehicle thefts for the start of 2017

PINCHER CREEK – A marked increase in the number of vehicle thefts has prompted a public warning from Pincher Creek RCMP.
In just the first two months of 2017, police report that they’ve responded to 11 complaints of stolen trucks, quads and snowmobiles. That’s up from just four complaints over the same period last year.
In a media release, police say the increase is consistent with other jurisdictions across Alberta, and believe it may be a result of the local illicit drug trade.
Pincher Creek residents are reminded to never leave any vehicle unattended while it’s running, or if the keys are easily accessible. Snowmobiles and quads should also be secure at all times, and trailers should be equipped with a hitch lock.
