CALGARY — Laura Schuler is returning as head coach of Canada’s women’s hockey team.

The Toronto native will be joined by assistants Dwayne Gylywoychuk and Troy Ryan and goaltending coach Brad Kirkwood.

It’s Schuler’s second season behind the bench after leading Canada to a silver medal at the world championship in Kamloops, B.C., earlier this year.

Schuler played for Canada in the first women’s world championship in 1990 and in the first Olympic women’s tournament in 1998.

She won world championship gold in 1990, 1992 and 1997, and Olympic silver in ’98.

In 65 career games for Canada, Schuler compiled 12 goals and 19 assists.

She is currently the head coach at Dartmouth College.

The 2017 world championship is in Plymouth, Mich.
