LETHBRIDGE –  University of Lethbridge Pronghorn swimmer Zack McAllister has been added to the Canadian Paralympic team that will compete in the Paralympic Games in Rio September 7 to 18.

McAllister and three other Canadian swimmers were added to the team by Swimming Canada after the Court of Arbitration for Sport announced that it had dismissed the appeal by the Russian Paralympic Committee to overturn the International Paralympic Committee’s suspension for the Rio Games.

“Zack’s path to Rio was not the one we expected,” said Pronghorn head coach Peter Schori. “He had a couple of detours and up’s and down’s along the way but good things happen to good people and Zack has definitely earned this opportunity.”

McAllister will return to the Pronghorn program this fall after a three year hiatus from the program. He was on the Pronghorn Swim team during the 2012-13 season.

This will be McAllister’s second Paralympic games, competing in London in 2012 and was on the Parapan Am Games team last summer in Toronto.
