Mar 16, 2018 | 12:00 PM

LETHBRIDGE – The 31st annual Moonlight Run will go on as scheduled Saturday, March 17, despite the fresh snow and ice on the ground.

The City of Lethbridge will have a number of road closures set up Saturday. Race setup will shut down the 200 block of 8 Street S. starting at 3 p.m. It will reopen at around 11 p.m. Starting at around 6:30 p.m. both westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of 3 Avenue S. will be closed from Stafford Drive to Scenic Drive and into Indian Battle Park. Drivers will not be able to access Indian Battle Park between approximately 6:30 and 11:30 p.m.

In addition, the 200 block of Scenic Drive S. will be closed between around 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. All roads should be open again by 11:30 p.m.

Runners will begin at CASA at 8 p.m. and run through the river valley before returning to CASA. Participants were advised Thursday of minor modifications to the route to account for weather conditions.

Nearly 2,200 runners are signed up for the 10 km run and the 6 km run/walk. Money raised will go towards the South Alberta Walk for Dog Guides and the Dragon Boat Association of Southern Alberta.
