UPDATE: Two charged in firearm theft after overnight standoff

LETHBRIDGE – Police have charged two men in connection with a burglary and firearm theft, after an overnight standoff on the west side of Lethbridge Tuesday, Nov. 27.

According to LPS, members of the Priority Crime Unit located a 23-year-old suspect in the gun theft from earlier this month at a home on Blackfoot Blvd. W. late Monday night, but would not come out.

Police responded by calling in the Critical Incident Response Team. Several hours later, four people who were inside the home were taken into custody. Officers searching the home found a .22 calibre handgun.

Dylan Ivan Sokol, 23, and Carter Dylan Rains, 26, both of Lethbridge, are charged with break and enter to steal firearms. In addition, Sokol is charged with uttering threats and being unlawfully at large. Rains is also charged with breach of recognizance. The two were still in custody as of noon Tuesday, pending a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
