Mother and daughter facing charges in Blood Reserve drug seizure
STAND OFF – Two women from the Blood Indian Reserve have been charged in relation to a recent drug seizure.
On Monday (Feb. 27), the Blood Tribe Police Service Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop near the town of Stand Off. The following was seized as part of that investigation:
– 75 fentanyl pills;
– 27 grams of crack cocaine;
– 23 codeine tablets;
– 5 cell phones;
– 1 digital scale;
– a 2012 Dodge Caravan;
– $25 in cash;
– various prescription medications in unmarked containers.
The pair of suspects were identified by police as a mother and daughter.
Karen Young Pine, 53, and Cynthia Young Pine, 37, are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, fentanyl and codeine, as well as possession of proceeds obtained by crime. Karen was previously wanted by the Lethbridge Police Service on other outstanding warrants, which were executed at the time of the Monday arrest.
A judicial interim release hearing has been conducted. Both were released by a Justice of the Peace on a recognizance, with conditions to appear in Cardston Provincial Court on April 3, 2017.
