FORT MACLEOD – An investigation that included ALERT Lethbridge, Fort Macleod RCMP and Blood Tribe Police has resulted in drug trafficking charges against two Fort Macleod residents.

On Thursday (May 25), police searched three homes and two vehicles in Fort Macleod, based on accusations that two individuals had been supplying fentanyl on the Blood Tribe First Nation Reserve.

As a result of the search, police report that they recovered 26 fentanyl pills, along with oxycodone, morphine, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana and illicit prescription pills, worth an estimated value of $6,000.

Police also seized stolen property, including a late-model Mercedes sedan, two trailers and a recreational vehicle.

“Fentanyl has caused enough harm to our respective communities,” said Sgt. Laura Akitt of the Fort Macleod RCMP in a media release. “Our agencies are committed to working together to target those individuals who continue to sell this deadly drug.”

Dean Jordan, 48, and Katie Eagle Speaker, 28, have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, while Jordan alone faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime and breach of recognizance.

Anyone who suspects drug or gang activity in their community is encouraged to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
