Hurricanes skate to victory over Kootenay Ice
LETHBRIDGE – Make that two in a row now, for the Lethbridge Hurricanes, as they defeated the Kootenay Ice in the first of their five-game road trip, 5-3.
Captain Tyler Wong, and Matt Alfaro both struck twice to give the team a solid lead, while Tanner Nagel also added one for the Canes. Goalie Ryan Gilchrist made 30 saves during the game.
It was the ‘Canes powerplay and penalty killing ability that allowed the Ice to get two goals, though.
Troy Murray put one in the net for the Ice, while Colton Kroeker scored a shorthanded goal, and Cale Fleury added another for the Cranbrook team while on a power play.
The ‘Canes are coming off a win at Enmax Centre against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Their record now stands at 38-17-7-3, and they remain 6 points back and in second place in the Central Division behind the Medicine Hat Tigers.
The team will be travelling east to Regina to take on the Pats, then they’re off to Brandon, Prince Albert and Saskatoon.
