PINCHER CREEK – UPDATE: Sources close to the investigation confirm to Lethbridge News Now that a Pincher Creek man has succumbed to self- inflicted injuries. Police were called to a home on Macleod Street in Pincher Creek around 7:30 Saturday evening, after an emergency call was made about a man barricaded in a home with a firearm. Local RCMP and Emergency Response teams were on the scene for nearly 15 hours, before the man died.

SUNDAY: After shutting down Macleod Street in Pincher Creek for nearly 15 hours, RCMP now say the incident is over. Local police and the Emergency Response team asked residents to stay in their homes, and to refrain from sharing any information on social media.

Sgt. Shawn French says there is no danger to the public, but there is an “unfolding” investigation. No furthur details are being released at this time. According to Global TV, police were responding to a firearms call, and that a man had barricaded himself in a home.

French would not say whether it was related to an event that occured near Matthew Halton High School February 8th, whether ALERT members are involved or any other details. He says more information will be released at a later time.
