Lethbridge Home and Garden Show takes root March 21-24

LETHBRIDGE – It may not seem like it right now, but we’re less than two weeks away from the official start of Spring, and that means the Lethbridge Home and Garden Show is not far behind.

March 21-24, 300 exhibitors will show off everything from the latest in outdoor landscaping and gardening, to renovation demonstrations and what’s trending in 2018.

Exhibition Park Spokesperson Doug Kryzanowski says the event usually attracts about 20,000 visitors over the four days. This year, there are a few changes.

“We’ve got a whole new list of seminars and presentations, and we’re changing the location of those from Heritage Hall into the South Pavilion Floor. The ATCO Gas cooking theatre isn’t with us this year, which is fine, but we chose that opportunity to open up the seminars and the presentations for that area.”

Some of those presentations include urban tree pruning and safety, tree removal, tree disease updates, and 2018 interior design and colour trends.

The BURNCO Landscaper Challenge is also back at Heritage Hall. The goal is for local landscape contractors to demonstrate their creativity using common and economical products. The public is then invited to judge and vote for their favourite display.

Kryzanowski says the event is somewhat weather dependent, so they’re hoping the snow stays away.

“You know, we had a great Ag Expo a couple weeks ago. We got skunked on that Friday, but people still continued to come in. This is more of an urban show for Lethbridge, but we do get a lot of drive-in traffic cause people come in to do commerce and stay the weekend and take in the Saturday for sure.”

Gates open at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 21. Admission is $7 per person for anyone over the age of 10. Parking is $5 per vehicle on Exhibition Park grounds.
