Police lay charges in gun incident and investigate man found with head injury

LETHBRIDGE – City police have been kept overly busy in the last day and half and are still investigating two incidents.

Officers were called to investigate after a man was found with a head injury on the south-side in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The man was found in the lobby of the apartment complex where he lives by another tenant, who called for an ambulance. The injured man was taken to the Regional hospital and then transported to Calgary by Stars. He is listed in serious condition.

Police are tracing back the man’s activities before he was found in the apartment building. There is information that he had spent time in an area pub until the late evening.

Contrary to reports on social media, there is no indication, at this time, to suspect an assault but, the investigation continues.

Also, police have charged a city man inrelation to an incident on a transit bus Thursday night, in which a man was seen with what appeared to be a hand gun.

Around 6:30-pm, police converged on 4th avenue and 6th street and a K-9 unit was brought in, to deal with the report. The bus was parked in the 500-block of 4th avenue.

Police found a man sitting in the rear of the bus, holding what appeared to be a revolver style pistol. The man was taken into custody and officers recovered two starter pistols capable of firing blanks.  No one was injured.  

Victor Running Rabbit, aged 30, faces numberous criminal code offences and has been remanded for a bail hearing on November 30th.
