Monahan signs seven-year extension with Flames; Gaudreau still unsigned
CALGARY — Sean Monahan inked a seven-year contract extension with the Calgary Flames worth a reported US$44.1 million on Friday morning.
The 21-year-old is coming off a career-best 63 point season, while adding 20-plus goals for the third straight campaign to start his NHL career. The deal will have a $6.3 million annual cap hit.
Twenty-three-old Johnny Gaudreau, meanwhile, remains unsigned.
The sixth overall pick of the 2013 draft, Monahan has quickly established himself as a precocious two-way force for the Flames.
