Vehicle crashes into north side apartment building

LETHBRIDGE – Crews were busy around midday Monday, Oct. 1 cleaning up the damage to a north side apartment building, after it was struck by a vehicle.

The owner of the apartment on the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Dr. N. said she was in her kitchen when she heard a sound and felt an impact like “a tornado hit the house.” It happened at around 10:30 a.m.

She was told that a driver had blacked out, gone through the intersection at 2 Ave. N. and across the grassy strip, struck a parked vehicle on the frontage road, and then hit her apartment building. The damage to the building amounted to a hole in the wall and some broken windows but, there was no immediate dollar value for the damage. 

Lethbridge Police confirm the vehicle was operated by a 33-year-old man, and the incident was the result of a medical emergency.
