Pedestrian struck and killed by school bus near Standoff

STANDOFF – Blood Tribe Police continue to investigate a fatal collision involving a school bus.

It happened at approximately 6:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, on Highway 509 just before the junction with Highway 2. According to police, the bus struck and killed a male pedestrian on the highway.

The pedestrian was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries. The school bus did not have any passengers and the driver was not injured.

Alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the collision and the identity of the deceased will not be released.  Police indicate the incident is not considered criminal in nature.
