The hard work by the Hurricanes would pay off early on in the 2nd period.

Just 1:32 into the middle frame, Alex Cotton picked off a Hitmen pass and sent Jake Elmer the other way who sniped his first of the post-season past McNaughton to tie the game at 1-1.

Calgary would regain the lead near the midway point of the 2nd period after James Malm found a loose puck out of a goalmouth scramble deposited it into the back of the net making it 2-1.

With Cael Zimmerman in the box for interference, the Hurricanes powerplay would get another chance a few minutes after the Hitmen went ahead.

On the man advantage, Elmer fed a perfect pass to Logan Barlage in the slot who made no mistake blowing it past McNaughton and evening the score 2-2.

That was all the offence in the middle frame, with Calgary holding the edge in shots 16-13.

The 3rd period is where things started to unravel for the Hurricanes.

Not two minutes into the final frame Lethbridge failed to clear the zone, and the Hitmen took advantage when Carson Focht slid a perfect pass over to Josh Prokop who just chipped it by Tetachuk to give Calgary their third lead of the night, 3-2.

The Hitmen would double their lead to 4-2 on a power-play goal from Vladislav Yeryomenko at 5:04 and they wouldn’t look back. Late in the game with Tetachuk on the bench for the extra skater, Luke Coleman would seal the deal into an empty net to make it 5-2 for Calgary.

Lethbridge finished the game with 39 shots, while Calgary put 35 on the board. Both teams converted once on the powerplay; the Hurricanes finished 1-for-5 while the Hitmen went 1-for-4.

With the series all tied at two games apiece, next up is critical Game 5 which will go on Saturday night at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
