RCMP, wildlife officers investigating “inhumane” death of coyote

GRANDE PRAIRIE – RCMP and Fish and Wildlife officers from Grande Prairie are investigating a video of what police describe as “the inhumane death of a wild animal.”

RCMP got a report Sunday that the video had been posted online.

According to a spokesperson for Alberta Justice and the Solicitor General, the incident happened near Sexsmith and it involved a coyote.

“Our Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Branch is investigating the video with the RCMP. We believe we’ve identified the individuals involved, but it’s too early to speculate on specific offences or potential charges,” Jason van Rassel said in an email to our newsroom.
