Stun gun and $15,000 in marijuana seized by police following traffic stop

LETHBRIDGE – After a routine traffic stop on Tuesday, Sept. 18, Lethbridge Police seized a stun gun and a large quantity of marijuana.

Just before 9 p.m. police saw a vehicle with an expired licence plate, and conducted a traffic stop along Red Crow Boulevard. As the officer approached the driver’s window there was a very strong odour of fresh marijuana coming from the vehicle.

45-year-old Allan Wayne Gregson of Raymond was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of stun gun that doubles as a flashlight.

Approximately 3.3 kilograms of marijuana with a street value of approximately $15,000, cell phones, drug paraphernalia including syringes and an electronic scale, and nearly $500 cash was also seized.

Gregson is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (marijuana exceeding three kilograms) and knowingly possessing a prohibited/restricted weapon.

He was remanded to appear in court today.
