Lethbridge Police need public feedback as Service seeks CALEA re-accreditation

LETHBRIDGE –  The Lethbridge Police Service is seeking re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
 
The accreditation confirms that the Service meets or exceeds 484 standards that are seen as the highest in policing. Over 900 agencies across North America, including eight in Canada, are CALEA accredited.
 
The local Polcie Service was first accredited in 1999 and has been re-accredited five times since.  The service recognizes the need for public accountability and the accreditation provides opportunity to measure its actions against internationally recognized standards and best practices.
 
Early in December, a tean of CALEA assessors will audit  the Service’s policies and practices and will require public comment as part of the process.
