LETHBRIDGE – A 29-year-old Standoff man now faces charges after police were called to a weapons complaint at Park Place Mall.

Officers were called to investigate a report of a man with a handgun in the mall’s food court at around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18. The man had allegedly approached another man and indicated he was armed.

Due to the high-risk scenario, police displayed a number of potential uses of force, including sidearms and carbine rifles, as well as sock guns. A suspect was arrested at the food court. Two other people were arrested in the mall but were released without charges.

Police have not found the weapon in question, but believe it was a BB gun.

Jeffery Robert Weasel Head is charged with assault with a weapon, using an imitation firearm during the commission of an offence, and causing a disturbance. Weasel Head has been released, with a court date of March 2. One of his release conditions bans him from visiting the mall.

In an unrelated incident, a man was arrested in the food court area under the Mental Health Act. Police said he had been throwing tables and causing a disturbance.
