Saskatoon Blades down the Hurricanes 5-3
LETHBRIDGE – After a week-long break the Hurricanes were hoping to get back in the win column Sunday night as they hosted the Saskatoon Blades. However, in spite of the fact that the Canes outshot their opponents in four out of their last five games, the team wasn’t able to follow through.
The home team was outshot 33 to 30 and posted a 5-3 loss, with most of the scoring coming in the third frame.
Captain Tyler Wong took advantage of a power play to open the scoring at 8:52 of the first, assisted by Brennan Menell and Ryley Lindgren. The Blades evened the score six minutes later and then pulled ahead with a power play goal in the second period.
Tyler Wong opened the third period scoring on a power play and evened the score at two apiece. After that, the Blades took control midway through the third, lobbing in three consecutive goals, including an empty-netter at the 17:30 mark.
