Second Annual Ride to Horizon Raises $10,500

HIGH RIVER:   It wasn’t a ride toward the horizon but, for Horizon – Camp Horizon.

On July 29th and 30th MP John Barlow and his team rode 200-km from the Crowsnest Pass to the Bar U Ranch and to then to Camp Horizon, south-west of Bragg Creak.  The ride raised $10,500 for the camp’s $10 million rejuvenation initiative to replace aging infrastructure and dormitories at the camp.

Started in 1965 by the Kinsmen Club of Calgary, Easter Seals Camp Horizon provides life-changing experiences to more than 1,200 children and adults every year.  Campers get to explore the great outdoors, learn new skills, traverse tree-top ropes courses, swing on a giant swing, rock climb, and challenge themselves in ways they never imagined possible.

“We are very proud of what we accomplished with the second annual Ride to Horizon,” said Foothills MP John Barlow. “I would like to thank our volunteers, our sponsors and supporters, the staff at Easter Seals, and of course our riders who helped ensure children from across Alberta and Canada will have an opportunity to experience Easter Seals Camp Horizon. Thanks to the support of Foothills residents these kids, regardless of their disabilities, will be able to be kids for a week each summer.”
