Alberta PC Leadership Hopeful Jason Kenney Launches ‘Unite Alberta Truck Tour’

EDMONTON — Former Conservative cabinet minister Jason Kenney appears set to take a summer road trip in Alberta.

Kenney, following his announcement in early July that he plans to leave federal politics and seek the provincial Progressive Conservative leadership, launched a “Unite Alberta Truck Tour” in Edmonton Monday morning.

He plans to visit all 87 constituencies in Alberta, making stops in Whitecourt, Peace River and Slave Lake during the first week of August.

In a news release, Kenney says he’ll be touring in a blue Dodge Ram truck, while staying in the homes of welcoming Albertans.

“This Unity Tour is about listening to Albertans, and how they want to unite out province. Everyone I’ve listened to is worried about the NDP’s disastrous mismanagement of our economy – that message is clear. But more importantly, I want to give Albertans and grassroots conservatives a voice on unity,” noted Kenney.

He stated in July that he hopes to facilitate a merger betweeen the PC party and the rival right-wing Wildrose.

Alberta’s PCs were ousted from office last year by the NDP after more than four decades in power, and will elect a new leader in March of next year.

Kenney has already been endorsed by former prime minister Stephen Harper, as well as interim federal Conservative leader Rona Ambrose.
