Taber Corn Set to Arrive This Weekend

Jul 28, 2016 | 2:04 PM

TABER – The wait is nearly over for Taber corn.

Grower David Jensen has confirmed that it will start hitting stands in Taber on Saturday (July 30), followed by Lethbridge and the surrounding area on Monday (August 1).

Jensen noted that they are very pleased with the quality they’re seeing early on, adding that you will want to be ready when it arrives.

“They got to be first ones there, because traditionally they sell out very early,” explained Jensen. “You can only bring so much at a time, and we’re trying to keep as much at the stands as we can, but it’s sometimes physically impossible.”

The good news is that while they might sell out early, you should have lots of time to get your fill.

“I think there’s going to be Taber corn running until late September,” Jensen stated. “We try to finish by the 10th of September, is sort of where our goal is, because we move on to harvesting other crops, but I think there will be Taber corn by late September the way it looks.”
