LETHBRIDGE – A 4-year old boy is dead following a collision just east of Lethbridge Wednesday afternoon (July 27).

It happened around 12 p.m. at the intersection of Howe Road (Range Road 211) and Brown Road (Twp 84), just north of Highway 4.

The red Jeep was travelling west on Brown Road when the green Buick, heading north on Howe Road, didn’t stop at the intersection of the two roads. The Jeep collided with the car on its passenger side.

The lone female driver of the Jeep was taken to hospital as a precaution, but police don’t believe her injuries were serious. The driver of the Buick, who is the mother of the deceased toddler, and a second child passenger were also transported to hospital.

A number of bystanders assisted with CPR on the toddler, but police pronounced him dead at the scene.

The area will be closed for the next few hours as police investigate, and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

No word on charges yet.
