Alberta Government Invests in a Comfortable Environment for Local Health Centre

LETHBRIDGE – St. Michael’s Health Centre is dedicated to providing only the best for its patients, and it recently received some help to improve it’s buildings quality even further.

More than $168,000 has been invested to purchase two new air conditioning units. The old ones were nearly 16 years old, and weren’t working to full capacity anymore.

Funding came through the Government of Alberta’s Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP) that’s being used to fund 520 other projects across the province. It also helped St. Michael’s repair its phone system and replace a hot water tank in the past.

The IMP is a joint effort between Alberta Infrastructure, Covenant Health and Alberta Health to build and renew facilities to ensure all Albertans have access to sustainable, quality health care.

Every year, Alberta Health Services submits a list of IMP projects for the next three years to Alberta Infrastructure and Health to make sure they meet the criteria. Those are then ranked based on their urgency of health and safety for both patients and staff.

Officials with the Health Centre say this investment will go a long ways in providing a more comfortable environment for everyone in the building.
