CALGARY —  The owner of the trucking company involved in the deadly Humboldt Broncos bus crash has pleaded guilty to multiple charges of failing to comply with safety regulations.

A lawyer for Sukhmander Singh, the owner of Adesh Deol Trucking Company, entered guilty pleas on behalf of his client to five of the charges he was facing Wednesday (March 27) morning in a Calgary courtroom.

According to the Canadian Press, the charges included failing to maintain time logs for drivers, neglecting to ensure his drivers complied with safety regulations, and having more than one daily log for any day. The offences occurred between January 1 and March 31.

Singh also pleaded guilty to not having or following a written safety program.  He was fined $5,000.

A truck owned by Singh collided with the Broncos team bus on April 6, killing 16 people on board, and injuring 13 others.

The driver of the truck, Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday after pleading guilty to multiple charges of dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
